Executive Chef

Donovan Johnson serves as the Executive Chef for Junto Sushi and Bar Kapu in Bentonville, Arkansas from the acclaimed Indigo Road Hospitality Group. Johnson oversees every aspect of the kitchen, from menu development to sourcing ingredients. A San Diego native, his career began at the age of 15, as a dishwasher. Over the years, he worked his way through nearly every position in a restaurant, where he learned the nuances of each role vital to a restaurant’s success. His hands-on experience and dedication to craftsmanship ultimately led him to a leadership position, where he thrives behind the scenes, bringing innovative flavors to the forefront.

Passionate about working with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, Johnson finds joy in the creative process and seeing diners enjoy his work. His leadership style is rooted in adaptability and support, he believes that success is found by uplifting those around him and fostering an environment of culinary curiosity.

Outside of the kitchen, Johnson enjoys listening to music, playing video games with his daughter, and, unsurprisingly, cooking for fun.
